Health Kick

Jeremy is on a health kick. This is inadvertently my fault. You see - he tends to read my "girl" magazines in the bathroom (remember the freak out over the 8 year marriage?) and there have been lots of healthy articles as of late. I don't want to complain about what he reads...........Lord knows I have been trying to get him to read for relaxation for years...........but apparently the articles found on the pages of Redbook and Goodhousekeeping (and whatever other magazines get passed my way from family) send him into a frenzy.

With this in mind my Walmart bill was a little over budget this week. He added to our normal groceries a bottle of calcium (because 30+ women need to take calcium-thanks dear!), complete multivitamins for both men and women, and fish oil for heart and brain health.

This will be accompanied with healthier eating and more time walking and riding bikes than we already spend. I know it is best for us so I am readily going along for the ride.

I do appreciate Jeremy's thoughtfullness even though he often borders on insanity when he gets on one of his "kicks". There is no middle ground with him - it is ALL or NOTHING. It could be worse though. He could not care and want me to just kill over - right? LOL! And besides.............we have two super reasons to keep things working properly!

I can't imagine not seeing these sweethearts grow up!

Here's to my sweet hubby and our health kick!

A Great Ball Season!

Last night was our last t-ball game of the season. The boys did a great job this year! Last year we only won one game all season and often times the other team would beat us so badly that they would turn off the score board! This year was a different story!

We were able to win 5 games - three of which were in the tournament! We went from dead last place last year to 3rd place in the league!!

I am so proud of how much our boys' (and sweet Emma) ability level has improved. They did well and had fun while playing!

Something else that I am very proud of is how our coaches and parents were positive and friendly during the games. So often you see parents and coaches that take t-ball WAY to seriously and they fuss and holler and argue. Not the Cardinals! We behaved ourselves! Well one game I got a little upset............but..........Tyra put me in time out and I settled down!

We had a great set of dugout Moms and a wonderful set of coaching Dads! And the stands were always packed with parents and grandparents plus other family members and friends!

Colby had some great hits this season and made several outs at first base! I am so proud of him! I can't wait till next year! I really feel like the team will be GREAT with it being many of the kid's third year playing together!! Enjoy some pictures from our season!

I love watching Jeremy pitch to Colby! It's a stressful job pitching to these little guys but I think Jeremy did a great job at it!

Colby on deck waiting to bat. I really think batting is the favorite part for all of the kids!

Batter Batter Swing!! He actually hit several to the outfield this year!! I love watching him get a good hit!

Colby is saying "Calm down Mama. You're yelling too much!" I really was this day!

One hot little t-ball team! I can't believe we played in 100 degree heat index but thanks to wet towels brought in by Brian they survived!

123..............Go Cardinals!! I love the huddle and talk that the kids get each game!

I love this sweet picture of Colby! Leslie Cena took it and shared it with me (she also took a few of the other pictures in this post. Thanks Leslie!).

And the favorite part about tball......................the snow cones! The blue color comes out of clothes MUCH easier than it comes off of faces!

Flash Forward

Today I took the boys to Sears to have their pictures taken and to take advantage of an awesome coupon I had been given by a friend (50+ pictures for only $7.99!). The boys did a great job for the photographer and while we were waiting for her to show us the pictures I had a few minutes of peace and quiet because I had rocked Cooper to sleep and Colby was playing his DS.

While we waited I spent time people watching. An older couple - probably in their 80's - came walking down the isle hand in hand. They were taking the shortest slowest steps you have ever seen but they were in perfect sync with each step. They patted on each other and smiled and seemed to be having a pleasant conversation as they passed.

I wondered to myself, "Will Jeremy and I be like that in 50 years?"

Well friends - God seemed to answer that one quickly for me. Only seconds later came a couple who seemed to be in their 70's. The man was walking about 10 feet in front of his wife and was grumbling and shaking his head. The wife poked along behind him looking at everything she passed and ignoring the annoyed man. He shouted "Quit lookin' at every fool thing and let's get the heck out of this place!" She said "I'll be there when I get there" to which he did a little stomp and walked off with more grumbling.

Yep. That will be us!

Here are a few of the pictures from today that I snagged from the Sears website. Enjoy!

Fab 5 Friday

This edition of Fab 5 Friday is all about ME and the things I love! Being a busy mom and wife doesn't always leave much time for ME alone but the things I have listed here are things I find time to squeeze in just for ME!

I LOVE Netflix via mail and Netflix via the Wii! This lets us only spend $18.01 a month for unlimited on both options and we use it every day! Jeremy and I decided a few years ago to cancel our satellite and only go with Netflix and we honestly have not missed it at all! I am currently ADDICTED to a show that was on Fox a few years back called Prison Break. There are 4 seasons on the Netflix via Wii right now and I have worked my way to season 2. It is a wonderful suspense show that I can't seem to stop watching. Jeremy and I watch it together but he doesn't know I have watched a few episodes ahead of him while he is either at work or sleeping! It is that good!

I have QUITE the sweet tooth but I try to be good and not always turn to chocolate when the urge for sweetness strikes. I found this Dannon Light and Fit strawberry yogurt a few months back and I think it is the perfect snack! Plus it is low calorie so you can't beat that!

Next is my laptop. It is 6 years old and really bogged down with too many pictures on it. It looks pretty rough too because it has a crack and is missing the comma key from when Colby was 2, but it is my lifeline with the world! I use it daily for my blog, email, and facebook - and speaking of facebook - have you played Family Fued on there yet? I am absolutely addicted to it! So much fun! I usually get most of my computer time in after Jeremy leaves for work at 10:00 and the kids are fast asleep.

I have always loved to read. It is very hard to find time to read with two kids and graduate classes but when I do squeeze reading time in I truly enjoy it. These days most of my books are young adult literature because I like to keep up with the books my students are reading. I am currently reading The House of Night series by PC Cast. It is about a finishing school for vampires. It is no Twilight saga by any means, but it is okay. The BEST young adult books I have read lately are The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins............she is an AMAZING author!! If you love to read you should definitely check her books out (and Twilight fans.........she was recommended by Stephanie Meyer!).

And last but not least is extra money. I hate to be broke but due to my job this year we have been living pay check to pay check more than I like to admit (I was paid out of ESS money so I was only paid while school was in....that means no checks this summer......can't wait for my new job to start this fall for that reason!) I have learned over time to be very frugal and save with coupons and lots of low key entertainment but I still like to have money poked back for a rainy day. There's just something comforting to me about knowing I have extra cash stashed away just in case we need it!

I hope each of you have a Fab Friday!!

A Story About a Boy

Once upon a time there was a little boy. That little boy LOVED to help his Mommy! He would even try to do chores that he wasn't big enough to do just so he could help out!

A few years later the boy outgrew wanting to help Mommy "just because." To be quite honest, helping Mommy really kinda ticks him off sometimes.

There may not be a happily ever after here if that attitude doesn't change!

Happy Birthday Colby!

Today is Colby's 6th birthday. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown! He has grown into such a wonderful, sweet, loving boy. I am so thankful that God chose me to be his Mom. I have learned so much over the past few years with him as my teacher and sidekick. I believe that being a mother is the hardest AND most rewarding job out there. I wouldn't trade a moment of it (even the aggravating ones) for anything in the world!

Here are a few pictures of Colby over the years.

(I wanted to add more pictures but for some reason blogger won't let me upload anymore tonight. I'll try tomorrow!)

Colby we love you with all of our heart and souls! Happy Birthday Sweetheart!

Colby's 6th Birthday Party

Today the birthday celebrations for Colby continued. We had him a bowling party at Southern Lanes. Several sweet family and friends joined us and the kids had a blast!

The cake was made of course by our wonderful friend Donna Long. She does the cutest cakes and is so good to our family in so many ways! We love you Ms. Donna!! Colby just happened to pick a dirt bike themed cake which has A LOT to do with his gift he is getting on his actual birthday from me and Jeremy tomorrow.

And by the way -I would highly recommend a bowling party to anyone with children 5 and up! It was so much fun and things ran so smoothly!

Swimming and Celebrating

We had a wonderful Saturday with our little family. Today we took Cooper swimming for the first time...........he wore tiny swim trunks and a cute hat and SPF 60 slathered everywhere and spent about 20 minutes in the water before crashing. He loved the water! He didn't even mind all the splashing around that the other kids did. And speaking of splashing Colby is swimming like a fish this summer too!

After swimming we went to Mis Amigo's with Nana and Pa for Colby's birthday which is on Monday (funny how we end up having Birth Weekends instead of Birth Days!). They sang to Colby and smeared ice cream on his face!

Hope you all had a wonderful Saturday too!
