I Think I'll Get a Boyfriend

The past week has taught me one thing. I need to get a boyfriend! With Jeremy out of commission my workload has more than doubled. I have had to wait on Jeremy, help him bathe, and play nurse to all of his medical needs. For three days Colby has been sick with this fever/sore throat virus thing and that has also been "Mommy" consuming. In addition to all of this I have had to:

-Clean the house.
-Do the laundry.
-Mow the yard..........part push/part ride
-Unload 1 ton of sand out of a truck for the pool (which I have still yet figured out how to put up alone)

I also need to:
-put up the pool like stated above
-learn how to weed eat
-tackle my flower bed that is in embarrassing condition
-fix Colby's 4 wheeler

and the list could go on and on!

I know I am being whiny, but I really am wiped out! I have really had some time to think about the situation and I have a pretty good solution. Just think..............if I got a boyfriend then I would have someone who could do the manly work around here by himself and I could keep on with my womanly duties.........on second thought as long as Jeremy is going to be down and out maybe I should just get him a girlfriend that could take care of him and I'll do the man chores................that would be an easier trade off in the long run!!!!

Under the Weather

The other day I made a comment about how Colby had been so luck and had not been sick for nearly a year. Why I actually spoke those words aloud I will never know! My little guy is feeling pretty yucky now. :(

He has been running a fever and complaining with his throat hurting today so we went to the doctor. Our regular doctor, Dr. Kelly, was out so we saw the on call physician. He said that there is a virus going around that consists of sore throat and fever and it lasts for 48-72 hours. Because it is a virus we have to ride it out without any prescriptions, but we can give ibuprofen and tylenol on a rotating schedule for the fever and pain.

Colby is just laying around now watching cartoons and burning up. His fever is 102.6 right now. Anyone got a good tip for naturally helping a fever ease up??

We Won!!!!

Our tee-ball team finally won a ball game tonight! We are a very young (but cute) team and they have really learned a lot so far this season! I am so proud of our sweet boys! Congratulations Cardinals!!

Alive, But Not Kickin'

Jeremy's surgery was on Wednesday. Dr. Burch did a wonderful job with him. They were able to reattach the Achilles tendon and they "robbed" another tendon from his foot to use as extra support. He will be in a cast for 3 months in a variety of positions with the goal being for his foot to be positioned normally by week 12. He has a long road ahead of him, but at least he is alive and able to be with his family! Thanks for all of the prayers and calls/emails/comments!

Jeremy's Surgery

Jeremy will be having his surgery at the Medical Center in the morning at 10:30 am. The surgeon is Dr. Burch and he seems like he is a very kind and knowledgeable man. Please say a prayer for Jeremy. According to Dr. Burch the surgery is the easy part...........the recovery and rehab will be the hardest part. Thanks in advance for your love and prayers!

Jumping Back On The Wagon

Man, I really fell off the wagon.

It has been quite a while since I weighed. I haven't been following any diet at all for the past month or so because life has been so crazy. I finally got the nerve to step on the scales this morning and was thrilled to find that not only had I not gained any weight back, but I had lost two more pounds (13 pounds total)!

I plan to be much more motivated this time with my diet, especially since Jeremy is more focused on weight loss this time also.

So, I guess you could say I am jumping back on the wagon! Hopefully this time I will be on for a longer ride!! Wish me luck!

We Need Your Prayers!!!

You never really know what kind of day you are going to have when your feet hit the floor in the morning. Today is a prime example of that statement.

Jeremy came home from work this morning just as Colby and I were heading out the door for work/babysitter time. Everyone was happy and in a good mood. Jeremy had plans to go and play softball with some friends.

I was working with some kiddos today and I got a phone call from Jeremy. He had snapped his Achilles tendon! His friends took him to the hospital and I left work as soon as I lined up someone to take the kids.

When I got to the ER I was thrilled to see that Dr. Moss (who we love) was Jeremy's doctor. He was in EXTREME pain. The doctor told us that he would definetely have to have surgery, but because the swelling was so severe they will have to wait a few days. They put his leg and foot in a cast. He is hurting so badly though!

Dr. Moss asked me to step out into the hall to speak with him to let me know the severity of the situation. He told me to not expect him to be able to go back to work for at least 6 months...........then things went fuzzy..........and I passed slick out! I think I was just too tense and upset that it all hit me at once. I am such a dork!!

Please keep Jeremy in your prayers. He is really hurting and he has a long road ahead of him.

Signature

Natalie posted details on how to get a signature. Just seeing if it worked. Thanks Natalie!!!

The Washing Machine

I have a washing machine that I hate. Sure, it gets my clothes clean, but it has to have some coaxing to get the job done...........must be part man! You see, the agitator in the washer is going out and about 80% of the time it will not agitate the clothing around to get them clean..........so I have to assist. I stick my arm in and swish it around and around for about 1/2 of the cycle.........great upper body workout! I disliked doing laundry before this, but now this chore is a lot worse. I happen to cuss and fuss quite frequently during my washing these days. And I have found out that my laundry loads could be cut in nearly half if my husband wasn't so prissy! He dirties up more clothes than Colby and I put together! He has clothes he works in, clothes he sleeps in, clothes he will go places in, and clothes to work in the yard in. This equals four outfits each day! It drives me crazy! Now his life has been threatened and he is wearing fewer outfits each day, but geez!! Give me a break Jeremy!

Introducing Meagan and Jamie Wilson!

For the past 7 years my little Sis has been dating Jamie Wilson. They are crazy about each other and in December of 2007 Jamie proposed to Meagan. For the past 1 1/2 years they have been planning the wedding - and it has finally come and gone! You all know how stressful the wedding has been on all of us from my previous posts, so I am THRILLED to report that everything went VERY well!

We began our day at our good friend Melissa Lynch's beauty shop where she fixed our hair and our good friend Jessica Long fixed our makeup. Everything looked wonderful and bubbly was flowing to calm some of the pre-wedding jitters. I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw my mom tipping back a mimosa to ease her nerves (perhaps this could be a solution to many of our problems!!)

When then left the shop and went to my house because I had forgotten the all important Spanx. They worked wonders, but I am not liking the whole "crotchless" aspect of it....especially 8 hours later when I got to take them off!

Meagan, Krystal (her room mate and bridesmaid, Lindsey (her new cousin in law), and I all arrived at the L & N Depot at 3:00 to get dressed and take pictures. I snapped a few pictures before the ceremony of the decorations. Donna Long made the cake which looked exactly like something in a Modern Bride magazine (she is amazing! We love you Donna!)

There was a huge crowd at the ceremony. The music was surprisingly good (picture a hawaiian version of Darius Rucker singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow) and tears were kept to a minimum during the ceremony (only Mom and Dad cried that I know of!)

After Colby turned over the rings to the preacher he really wasn't interested in holding the pillow any more. Therefore he balanced it on one hand, balanced it on his head, and tossed it up and caught it. Once his life was sufficiently threatened he was good again.

Most of the crowd stayed for the reception and everyone had a blast. Colby sang Johnny Cash's song "Jackson" for everyone (I was so surprised by this!) and he really cut a rug on the dance floor. He said it was one of the best times he had ever had!

I know you all have thought I was terrible for posting some of the things I have posted about my sis and the wedding planning. I never told a lie.......it was all true and if you know my family very well you can understand this, but everything went perfectly and I am so happy to know Meagan and Jamie are starting their lives together as husband and wife. Here's to a wonderful life time of love and happiness for them!! Enjoy the pictures! They are in no particular order.

Today

Every once in a while I have a day where I really do not like my husband very much. I'm thinking today is that day!

Apology For Earlier Post

A few weeks ago I posted about how I knew how my husband was going to die............because of the hot girl on 31W who mows the yard (see old posts if you don't know what I am talking about.) Apparently my husband and MANY of his buddies are IRATE with me because she is no longer mowing..........a middle age woman is. Thus I must apologize. I hope she mows again soon and makes my husband a happier man......I will just bank on his life insurance as a repayment for his "eye candy."

The Wedding

Due to all of the events in downtown Bowling Green this weekend, Meagan and Jamie's wedding will be held at the L & N Train Dept at 4:30 with the reception immediately following at the Depot this Saturday.

Even though Sis thinks my blog is "STUPID" she wanted me to post this on here for readers who may be coming to the wedding.

Ya'll pray for us on Saturday!!

Because I Am A Mother

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I was able to spend it with my sweet little family and we had a great day. As the day draws to a close, I can't help but think of some of the things I am able to do now that I am a mother that I didn't do before. For example:

1. Clean up bodily excretions without getting sick.
2. Enter the boys restroom without hesitation if my little man has been in there too long (he seems to think he will DIE if he uses the girl's restroom now!)
3. Cut in line on occasion "because my little boy is waiting unhappily in the car."
4. Eat pizza for more than one meal in a day (we only did this once, but it was a first for me.)
5. Get excited over poop.
6. Analyze the color of snot.
7. Dig fishing worms and then keep them living in the house so we can watch how they "live."
8. Find something interesting in the mundane.
9. Understand the difference and importance of every kind of car/tractor/construction equipment/train/and anything else he is interested in.
10. Love so much that I wonder if my heart might burst.

Thank you God for making me Colby's mother. Happy Mother's Day everyone!!!

Awkward Explainations

This afternoon during the brief period of sunshine we had I let my little man outside to play. We are the home where all the neighborhood kids hang out at so there is always a crowd around. I was in the back room putting some things away when I heard laughter outside. I smiled because I knew the kids were having fun..........then I heard.........."HA HA HA! They're stuck!"

This caused my eyebrows to raise so I went outside to see what was going on. There were about 10 kids ranging from innocent preschoolers to hormone driven teenagers in the back yard..............and there were two dogs............one boy.........one girl............and they were "stuck" together!

I try to keep my calm and not make ANY facial changes to alarm the kids that this was wrong or funny (so hard for me to do!) and I grabbed the water hose. I sprayed.........and I sprayed.............and I sprayed............nothing.

By this time the neighborhood pervert is on his porch laughing loudly and yelling suggestions my way, the kids have figured out that this isn't something that I think they need to see which makes them stare even harder, and I have said some choice words to the dog that little ears don't need to hear.

I headed into the house, grabbed the cold water jug from the fridge and doused the dogs. Finally they were unstuck. Problem solved.............yeah right.

The teenagers are cracking up, the preteens are figuring it out, then my son says, "Gross! His tooter was stuck to her!" (Please note......we call penises tooters around here!) I didn't know what else to do. I picked up the water hose and doused the 10 giggling kids and went back into the house.........I dare ANY of them to speak of it again!!!

Ah, the joys of motherhood!!!

Is This Karma?

Wikipedia defines karma in the following way:

Karma (Sanskrit: कर्म kárma (help·info), kárman- "act, action, performance"[1]; Pali: kamma) is the concept of "action" or "deed" in Indian religions understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect (i.e., the cycle called saṃsāra) originating in ancient India and treated in Hindu, Jain, Sikh and Buddhist philosophies.

I can't help but wonder if certain things that happen to me are the result of karma. It is no secret that I give my husband a hard time..........a really hard time more often than not. I love to pick at and aggravate him..........he does the same to me......it's just how our loving relationship works. Yesterday though, I think he got me back for a lot of my picking and aggravating...........he ran over my foot with the back tire of a go kart. He swears it was accidental. He was so upset about it that I do believe him. I now have two toes that are swollen and one that I am fairly sure is broken. Is this karma? Do I need to let up on my hubby some?

What are your thoughts on karma?

Do You Want a New Header???

So now that I have kinda figured out how to do this customized header stuff I really want to play with it!!! If you want me to make one for you then send me 5-8 pictures that you want included along with any wording or special colors you want on the header and I will see what I can come up with! Send them to me at brooke.vincent730@wku.edu
Also leave me a comment so that I know to expect something from you!

I have seen so many places online that charge for these things that I am actually considering doing that eventually if I can REALLY get the hang of it ( many moons from now I am sure!!) so please submit yourselves to be my guinea pigs so I can get some practice!!!

Below are some of the headers I have made this weekend, but I am SOOOO tired of looking at our pictures that I need something new to look at! The first two are my favorite ones...........the last two were the first ones I did and I think they need work. Hope to hear from you soon!!!

Head Scratchin'

Every once in a while things happen that make you kinda stop, wrinkle your face up into a confused grimace, and scratch your head. You may be puzzled. You may be baffled. You may be fighting the urge to pounce on an offender. You may be trying to keep yourself out of hot water. Here are my head scratches of the weekend.

1. At Sis's shower I heard my mother asking someone if they had read my blog. They said no and asked her what it was about........mom answered "I don't know....I can't use a computer and it scares me to think about what she writes about." Head scratch.

2. Our female boxer is in heat so we have her pinned up in order to prevent more puppies. While working on the pin this weekend Jeremy looked at the dog, looked at me, and said, "Wow. I sure am glad your butt doesn't swell up like that when you are in heat." Head scratch.

3. Colby told my brother in law (who is completely full of crap), "My Momma says you are full of crap." Head scratch.

4. I got a phone call this weekend from a relative that truly drives me mad. When I picked up the phone and realized it was her I repeatedly said "Hello.........Hello........is anyone there," and then hung on...........when I run into her I will blame it one bad reception. Head scratch.

So, you must now tell me. What has made you scratch your head lately??

Customized Header

I have been playing with the header on my blog for a while now and finally have one that I think I like!! Let me know what you think...........honest opinions only please!!

More Wedding Chaos

Ahh...........it is May...........we are fully immersed in Spring...........school is coming to a close.........and the wedding is only 15 days away! Now I realize that some of you may be wondering if I am exaggerating certain points when I complain about this wedding, but rest assured that I speak the truth when I describe Bridezilla's world!

Mom and Sis have fought over EVERY single detail of the wedding and reception. Where will it be? How will we decorate? What kind of food will we have? Who will we invite? Where will we get the tuxes/dresses/food/Valium? Seriously......every detail has been a battle. For a while my dear Daddy and I were stuck playing mediator to the battling ladies, but we finally stopped even discussing the wedding and simply turned into bobble heads grinning and nodding along with whichever one of them was ranting along. That made life much easier!

Now as we are quickly approaching the wedding day (thank God) there have been several unexpected events that seem to make things less than perfect for the day ahead. The wedding is at Fountain Square Park and the reception is at the L & N Depot on May 16th.

Also on May 16th is:

1. WKU graduation...........granted it is in the morning, but we have all experienced the extra traffic that brings to the town.

2. There are at least 3 proms that we know about that day..........and everyone likes to take pictures at Fountain Square Park...........I seriously had a dream that loud teenage prom goers were taking pictures during the wedding and she stopped the ceremony to tell them off..........and I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happened!!

3. There is a BG Hot Rods game near the same time as the wedding...........and parking is crazy downtown anyway...........so where are the guests going to park?

4. This week the good old city of Bowling Green decided to dig up the tulips at Fountain Square Park and give them away..........no flowers for her after all!

So each night I get a phone call from Bridezilla where she screams into the phone her daily complaints and I hold the phone about 12 inches from my ear and listen. After her 5-10 minute rant with not a single breath of air, I try to assure her that things will be okay.

What advice can I give? Well dear Sis, you are getting ready to get married.........this wedding planning will seem like a cakewalk compared to all the obstacles you are going to face in the next 100 years as a wife!!!!
