Yellow and Yuck

Well it is official. I have a yellow baby. I hadn't noticed it until yesterday when we actually left the dark dungeon our our sleepy little house, but Cooper is definitely having some issues with jaundice. My cousin Dana is a nurse in the Medical Center nursery and she checked him yesterday and will be coming by to check him again today so we know where to go from there. I can't decide if I am just paranoid now that I have noticed it or what, but it seems to have gotten worse. Please say a prayer that I am just paranoid and our sweet baby gets better soon! I don't even want to entertain the thought of going to the hospital..............especially when we factor in Jeremy's situation.

He is out of the house for three days on Dr. Kelly's orders because he has a bad cold and walking pneumonia! He was upset about having to leave..............said that I jinxed him by joking about kicking him out for so long..........but he is staying at his Dad's (calls several times a day sounding just pitiful too!) My babies have been great though so we have managed well so far.

I also got my staples out on Monday. It wasn't too bad because I am very numb on most of the incision site. Best news of the day...........I am 10 pounds UNDER the weight that I was at when I got pregnant!! Woo Hoo! Now maybe Cooper can nurse some of this other weight off of me too!!!

If you have time today, say a prayer for our sick! I love you friends and have a great day!

I hope things settle down for you so you can enjoy this time with your newborn. Trace was jaundice but luckily he was not admitted. We just had to make a few trips back and forth to have it checked. I'm hoping for the best for Cooper!

Poor Cooper. Hopefully the jaundice will resolve quickly and Jeremy will be feeling better soon. I know you must feel very stressed. I'll say a prayer for you guys!

Hopefully the jaundice will not require a stay in the hospital...that would be especially trying on you guys with Jeremy sick. Hopefully both fellas will be better soon! Thinking of you ALL!

Okay - hope I can offer some advice here!

Ellie Claire had REALLY bad jaundice after we had been home a few days. We were close to being put in the hospital but instead we had to rent something called a "bili-blanket" It looked like a long heating pad with a bright light in it. We had to keep her in nothing but a diaper and that wrapped around her at all times for several days. It worked and keep us out of the hospital - even if it was a pain to keep it on her at all times.

We ended up making something like 7 or 8 trips to the hospital lab to be checked the first 14 days of her life! It was crazy! I keep offering to quit nursing if it would help but the dr. said no. We made it through it but it was a rough first couple of weeks. Call me (home or school if you want to talk - I also have something that was a miracle for me when it came to nursing!). He's a doll!
